Music on Panasonic X800   sidharth
Hi, i just bought the panasonic X800, my first ever 'smart phone ". One of the things which i have been dying to do is to download songs on to the phone and use them as ringtones but some problems. 1. I dont want to downl;oad the entire song as that takes too much memory. what free ware progrma can u suggest which will allow me to cut song lengths, or just take bits. 2. I tried copying a ringtone from a sony K700 via bluetooth but upon trying to open i got a mssg saying that the phone does not support this format??? 3. Lastly, i downloaded 1-2 songs via USB through the software cd provided, but the quality sucks..there is no bass..is this how its going to be like or are there ways to improve the same. Eagerly awaiting your response. Thanks for yor time. regards Sidharth

I currently have a Panasonic x800 cell phone. The font size is too small. Is there any software to download to be able to change this as it is very hard to read.

the panasonic x800 is exactly like the panasonic x700 in every technical aspect, only thinner, flatter and without the antenna. it is a symbian60 2nd edition (a.k.a. v2.0), fp1 (with feature pack 1), os v7.0s enhanced. compatible phones are the nokia 3230, 6670, 7610, 6620, 6260 and samsung sdh-d720. the nokia 6600 is also a symbian60 2nd edition (a.k.a. v2.0) but without the fp1 (with feature pack 1) and os v7.0s not enhanced. this is why some third vendor applications for the nokia 6600 will run on the panasonic x800 / x700 and vice versa and some will not. even some applications for the compatible phones might not always run on the panasonic x800 / x700 because of course no matter what they are still coming from different companies, each having their own advantages and disadvantages. this phone is a great phone. battery life that seems very very very bad at first can easily be prolonged by charging the phone for at least 10 hours the very first time then draining it completely by using it then recharging it while turned off and doing so over and over for a couple of times. i was able to prolong my standby time from only 20 minutes to 2 days! i seldom do use my phone 'tho. memory can be expanded easily by changing the minisd to a bigger capacity one. please keep in mind that it is never good to overdo it just because it is the trend to do so. there is a maximum capability of memory that the phone can accept. a 256mb is about the maximum. the 512mb is already very risky. a 1gb is a big no. the bigger the minisd the harder it will be on your phone. even if you might be able to use it for a couple of weeks this is why some people get problems with the phone afterwards. best is also to always only use up to half of what the memory is, be it internal or external. this will help the phone a lot, it would benefit any phone actually very much. compare side by side the colors of this supposedly only around 6000 colors phone to the motorola razr for instance which supposedly should have around 250000 colors. the panasonic x800 / x700 will be so much better than the razr that you will start to wonder. not a wonder, in actual more detailed technical testing the panasonic x800 / x700 was actually capable of up to the 16 million colors! exchangable front covers. you can even make them yourself by either buying or making a transparent faceplate and printing out the pictures behind it on good quality heat resistant photo paper. the bluetooth / infra red / usb / gprs functions work just great also. what does the phone not have? mp3 / wma / ogg / aac capability. just install ultramp3 / mp3 player / wmaplus / oggplayer / aacplayer and that will take care of that and the codecs. the ringtones. some of the more complex polyphonic midi ringtones that could be played in the players only but would not function / sound well as the ringtone can easily be helped by upgrading the sound patch file. a megapixel camera. this can easily be helped by using the photobase that came with it or by installing photorite. or you can simply transfer the pics to your desktop or laptop computer and use photoshop / paintshop pro / photoimpact to enhance the pictures. sound quality. some people complain that they cannot here the people talking to them on the phone. well to me that is actually a hint. if it is so noisy outside, why use a cellphone without the headset then? bluetooth ot cable type. i personally do not like unresponsible people endangering other people by having to be on the cellphone wile driving but without a headset. using a cellphone in a theater... that annoys other people that came for the movie that did not need to be disturbed by a cellphone ringing and some unpolite person blasting away talking on it trying to overcome the sound of the movie. or let the other party just speak clearly. if that other person is high on something or whispers afraid someone else will hear it... of course everybody has the right to do whatever they want with their own cellphones. just think about it and be more logical and compassionate when using a cellphone. you get the picture right? what else does any symbian60 phone not have? a good alarm function. just install alarm manager / time machine and that takes care of that. this is just a glimpse of what you can do. just be creative but do it with care, good luck and have fun. needless to say... i love the panasonic x800, it is simply a great phone. sincerely, gwyneth
